Toronto based Sparks Productions was founded in 1991 by Executive Producer Andy Crosbie. Sparks is one of the industry’s early practitioners of giving clients a wide variety of directorial talent to consider while working alongside trusted local producers and crew.

With transparency being one of the company’s corner stones, Sparks has developed through the decades a network of relationships with directors and other production companies around the world. It has also led to Sparks becoming known as a consistent and reliable provider of production services to foreign producers wanting to execute productions in Canada.

The company’s tenacious dedication to making each production succeed both on an artistic level and from a user experience standpoint, has given Sparks a positive reputation as a hospitable home for talented people and a safe place to nurture great ideas.

The Sparks team has worked in every corner of Canada from chasing icebergs off the coast of Labrador to capturing the life of indigenous people in Northern Alberta to filming a rhino an hour outside Toronto.

Melissa Silverman

Bio

A New York City native, Melissa Silverman’s work is a blend of reality, comedy, and oddity. She began her career at MTV, where she spearheaded award-winning campaigns with high-powered talent, including Madonna, Conan O’Brien, and Britney Spears, to name a few. Melissa directed several field pieces for Jimmy Kimmel Live! as well as commercial campaigns for Disney, Funny Or Die, Breyers, and Starz/DIRECTV, among others. She has received awards from the Art Director’s Club, D&AD, PromaxBDA, RESfest and TELLY, and earned an Emmy nomination for her Nick Jr. campaign. Her dog Birdie is part-pomeranian, part-muppet.
